What started out as a joke, has now become the joy of my life.
My name is Sofia , I was born in the Caribbean then later migrated to England. I started playing pan at a tendered age, with no musical knowledge and no common sense about the Steel pan I fell in love with the instrument and learn to love appreciate the instrument.
Music is my life , learning to play the pan is a gift from god. my commitment and ability to demonstrate the great musical passionate of the pan have take me places such as Trinidad &Tobago , Panama ,Turks and Cacaos ,Etc. One of my greatest achieventment to date , was getting he chance to represent my country at the 'World steel pan festival', held in Trinidad & Tobago. I also had the opportunity to play with some of the world top Steel Orchestras in Trinidad & Tobago .
My musical journey started in Jamaica at the 'Edna Manley College of visual and Performing Arts' . After I have completed my course, in Jamaica ,I further continue my studies at South Birmingham and Wolverhamton University, where I have gained my (BA Hons) in music Performance.
I must acknowledged Mr. Ruthven Jackie , who was my mentor back in the Jamaica , he will always be remembered ,because he has always believed in me ,even when I felt like quitting. My Mother I can never repay her for what she has given to me, all my friends and family who has always supported me and the almighty ,he made all the impossible possible
